The Blair Witch Project

This film is similar to the Rumour project we are doing. This is because in both of the films there is a group of friends and both of the films there is something mysterious causing pain to people. There are three friends 2 of them are boys and one is a girl. The opening scene is set at the girl’s house and one of the boys zoom out from her face which makes her face clear and not blurry. The whole film is recorded by a hand camera which makes it different to other films. There is nothing wrong in the first 10 minutes of the film because they are not in the woods at the start. From the house they record there journey to the shopping centre where they buy things for the camp in the woods. We can see that they where planning to stay for only a night but then everything changes and the night turns in to four nights where one of the boys gets lost and dies and were the other two characters go crazy. The film stops when the last two characters enter a house and the camera freezes in side the house as the boy stands still with the girl’s screams and yells. Another similarity with our project is that the main characters are not aware of what is waiting for them. Also in both The Blair Witch Project and Rumour the friends plan doesn’t work out the way it has to be. For example the friends in the Blair Witch Project didn’t know that they were going to get killed and lost and the friends in Rumour are there to joke around and to scare people not to get die themselves. Some of the camera and angles and shots in the film are really interesting so we are going to include some of them as well. There where many zoom to bushes and the surroundings in the film so we are going to include this, this would match with out motto because our project is all about the bushes and the mysterious being there.

In my Torment video I didn’t include many transitions because it was set in the 1920’s. To make my video fit into the era I put on a black and white affect to give show the audience that it was set during the 1920’s periods. The only transition I used was when the title dissolved into the scene. I had the title in black and white with an old style which was brush script black 75 to make it have an old style. It has a joined up handwriting making it fit into the time. Throughout the short opening sequence I used cuts and jumps and at the end I included a blackout so it was left at a cliff-hanger when the gun shots were heard. I didn’t include any affects in my sequence because it wouldn’t of fitted in with the time periods but the only affect I included was the Lens flare on the building making the audience want to know what this place is because of the light hitting building up tension. On Friday I finally finished my editing for Torment and added the music the dialogue and the gun shot. I watched through my video and made sure that it ran as a continuous sequence with the camera angles needed. It didn’t work out the way I wanted but know I know how to use the camera and the editing programme so it would be much easier and better for my Rumour video.

Coursework

In my lessons today I carried on working on my coursework presintation. I hyperlinked my work so it would go in order when clicked. I also finished the title pages so I moved on to add each area on. E.g : Shot Lists , Animatic.... I also started to add my blog on my coursework so that I can have them saved somewhere else if my blog dont open.
